As we move further into the summer here in Southwest Florida our redfish actually get redder. (I know "redder" isn't even a word but this is my blog and I make the rules here, Ok, Professor?) This darkening is their way of blending in with tannic stained water we find way up in the mangroves these days. The fish pictured above, caught by local angler Kyle Petrick even had many of its normally white belly scales turning red. It was easily the nicest looking redfish I've ever seen so we released it to grow a little more.
