High Tide Matlacha Redfish

Here are some shots of my pops doing two of his favorite things on the water:  working up a sweet case of melanoma and bitch-slapping our big local redfish.  Dad got this 29 incher today on the Indian Fields flats right before high tide.  It ate a Bomber Mullet lure and it was also the only bite we got all afternoon.  Fishing in Matlacha Pass has been great for the first few hours of each morning and then it turns dormant just before lunchtime.  Not even the ladyfish would bother us after 11AM this week.  Heat and big tides are to blame for that as far as I'm concerned.  The good news it that the winds will lay down as Irene moves north so it should back to normal by Sunday.
