Snook fishing is really picking up steam right now all over Matlacha Pass. Angler Scott Davis from Cincinnati landed this beautiful fish on a white Zoom jerk bait with me this afternoon. We pulled this snook out of a very tight creek that held at least two dozen others of the same size. These guys are hugging the mangrove during the rising tides and topwater lures are also drawing explosive strikes. If you need a break from chasing tarpon, spend an hour plugging for snook when the water is at its highest. You should find plenty of short fish like the one in the photo and a few monsters out there, too.
