Snook Season Closed, But Don't Panic.
The State of Florida just announced that the upcoming snook season, which was scheduled to open on March 1st, will remain closed until at least September 1st. This is a good move on their part after the record breaking freeze we had last week.
This is also no reason to panic if you’re planning a fishing trip to Southwest Florida. All that the closed season means is that you can’t keep any snook for consumption. You can still fish for them anywhere in Florida and enjoy this excellent species as a strictly catch and release game fish. Here’s the official details from the State:
